Locatelli Parmigiano Reggiano di Montagna is back in the U.S. A premium mountain aged cheese born from Italy’s Apenine highlands and crafter with heritage by the Auricchio family. Aged 24 months at over 1,000 feet above sea level and certifies Prodotto di Montagna. The result: a rich, complex flavor shaped by time, altitude, and the gentle Marino winds on the Mediterranean.

To carry the “Prodotto di Montagna” label, a product must:

  • Be produced in a mountainous area – as defined by EU regulations, this includes altitudes above a certain level or regions with steep slopes and difficult farming conditions.
  • Use ingredients primarily from mountain area – the majority of raw materials must come from mountain zones.
  • Be processed in mountain areas – meaning transformation or production steps (like aging cheese, smoking meats or fermenting dairy) must also happen within those regions.
